Driver principles

Fasten aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. We designed these rules to ensure that both drivers and riders have a safe and enjoyable experience when using Fasten. We hope you take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following guidelines.

Mutual respect

Drivers are expected to treat fellow drivers, riders, Fasten employees and contractors with respect. The way you behave while interacting with others, including via our 24/7 online support can have an impact on your driver account. Fasten does not tolerate threats or displays of aggressive or disrespectful behavior.

Here are some tips to ensure you have a pleasant interaction with riders.

  • Please be on time for your ride. Communication is key, so feel free to call or text when you are on the way.
  • Greet your riders politely and, please do not shout or swear. No one likes to be treated rudely.
  • Try to keep your car in good condition by refraining from eating or making other messes. Be sure to keep your personal belongings in the trunk.
  • Remember, it’s okay to chat with other people in the car, but understand that you might meet people who would like to keep conversation to a minimum. Please respect these differences.
  • Respect riders’ property. For example, damaging luggage, or breaking electronic devices is not OK. And of course, no sexual conduct is ever permissible.

Safety emphasis

Fasten drivers play a crucial role when it comes to safety. Please ensure you always follow local laws and regulations while picking up and getting a rider to their destination. Don’t forget to buckle up when you get into the car. Being a Fasten driver means driving within the speed limit, not texting while driving, always using a phone mount, and never driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications that affect your ability to drive.

Fasten requires drivers to have their first name, profile picture, vehicle make and model, and license plate number displayed on the rider app. Please make sure all documents and information on your account is accurate at all times to avoid any confusion and ensure the best possible driver-rider experience.

Remember that allowing someone else to use your Fasten driver account or picking up passengers using an unapproved vehicle can lead to temporary suspension of your account for investigation.

Child supervision

Only individuals over 18 years old can have a Fasten rider account. Children are only allowed if a parent or guardian is riding with them. Children ages 8 through 12 require an appropriate child restraint or must wear a safety belt that is properly adjusted and fastened. Children under age 8 and less than 4 feet 9 inches tall shall be properly fastened and secured by a child restraint system such as a car seat. Violation of the child restraint law is a standard traffic offense in the United States of America.

Zero Tolerance

Fasten has a zero tolerance policy to weapons, drugs or alcohol. Fasten prohibits drivers from carrying firearms in a vehicle while operating on the platform. Driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, and/or medications affecting your ability to drive is never allowed. Violating this policy may result in permanent suspension from the Fasten platform.

Nondiscrimination

Fasten is committed to building an inclusive community of riders and drivers that reflects the diversity of the cities we operate in. As such, Fasten prohibits discrimination against riders or drivers on the basis of race, religion, national origin, disability, age, sex, marital status, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law. Any violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension from the Fasten platform.

Refusing a rider with a service animal is a violation of our Driver Terms & Conditions and may also result in a driver’s suspension from the platform.

Fraudulent and Unacceptable Behavior

Fasten reserves the right to review any account suspected of fraudulent activity. This type of activity may result in funds and promotion bonuses earned to be withheld for a specified amount of time to be determined by the company. Fasten may deactivate any account(s) associated with fraudulent activity, including but not limited to: abusing promotions; collusion between rider and driver; disputing fares for illegitimate reasons; or duplicate accounts. Unauthorized use of Fasten‘s trademark or intellectual property, and soliciting ride payments outside the Fasten platform.

Quality Checks

Fasten has the fairest rating system as it involves just giving a thumbs up or thumbs down. Riders who use Fasten expect their drivers to drive safely and to be courteous and professional. The higher the quality of the service, the more riders want to take trips, which in turn means more opportunities for drivers to earn more money. As a driver, providing exceptional customer service is an important component of how your rider rates their experience with you. There are several ways we measure driver quality, and driver rating is one of the more critical pieces of criteria. Rider feedback is another significant part of gauging driver performance, and our team thoroughly investigates the content and validity of each report.

Background Checks

All prospective Fasten drivers will be subject to a thorough background check, including a review of their driving record. A driver’s account will be deactivated if a motor vehicle record or background check uncovers a violation of Fasten’s safety standards and criteria.

Account Reactivation

Fasten has the right to deactivate your account at any time in order to improve driver performance. You are required (unless instructed otherwise) to visit your local driver lounge in order to be reactivated on the Fasten platform.

If your account has been deactivated due to expired documents, you may have the opportunity to get back on the road as a driver if you update these documents. Also, visiting your local Fasten office and speaking with the Driver Operations team to understand the reason(s) why your access may have been suspended can help you regain access. Some reasons for temporary deactivation could be vehicle repairs, addressing behavior improvement, etc.
